Refresher Driving Courses

Refresher driving courses are available to any qualified driver who wishes to improve on their current driving skills.

These courses are ideal for anyone who may have taken a break from driving, or in some cases has passed the driving test but not driven for some time.

You may also have arrived from Europe or another country and not driven in the UK before. This can be very daunting at first but with a qualified driving instructor we can build on your current skills and develop your driving for UK roads.

Courses are structured to meet your requirements, whether that be motorway tuition, night driving, or practicing that busy route into work. We focus on safety, anticipation/planning, and a smooth progressive drive.

We would discuss precisely what you want to achieve and set out a course of lessons to achieve those aims.

If you would like to speak personally about any particular subject then please contact us.

Motorway Tuition

Current regulations do not permit learner drivers onto motorways. We prepare a course that covers every aspect of driving on motorways.

Motorways sign and signals. Entering and leaving. Lane discipline and changing lanes. Overtaking and service stations.

Roundabouts

Roundabouts are becoming much more common on our road networks. This is mainly down to the increase in traffic volumes and the need to keep vehicles moving.

Are you confused when to signal? confused when no-one signals? Do you find yourself in the wrong position? We can plan routes to cover many number of roundabouts, dealing with approaching safely, signalling, exiting safely and driving position.

Parking - Road & Bay

There are two places we generally park our cars.

Firstly there is parking your car on the road. This is usually done within a space no more than 2 car lengths. Courses cover parking safely into a limited space under control and making good effective observations. We will discuss where it would be safe, legal, and convenient to park your car.

The second option is parking into a bay. By far the easiest way of parking your car is to reverse into the bay and also the safer option when driving away. Some car parks allow for forward parking and this can also be easier when loading shopping.

Manoeuvres

Whilst used very little day to day its important to know Where?, When? and How? to turn your car to face the opposite direction.

The most preferred option is to use a limited opening to the left or right, like a junction. This gives you the most control of the situation around you.

Its also possible to turn the car in the road, using forward and reverse gears.

Night Driving

You may find that the majority of your driving is during the day, however if your unsure of driving at night then why not have a short session during the evening in a dual controlled car with an experienced driving instructor to build your confidence.

Covering lighting regulations. Country lanes and unlit roads. Parking at night. Dazzle from other drivers.

Economical Driving

The cost of fuel is increasing and transport is an essential part of modern life.

So the thought of being able to save fuel whilst driving is an very attractive. Not only that but your journeys will become more comfortable, you will develop better planning and perception skills, making you a safer driver.

With making a few changes to your driving its more than possible that we can reduce your fuel consumption, and reduce your chances of having an accident in the future.

Eco Driving Test Results

These test results were taken over a 30 minute drive using the on board computer fitted to a Renault Clio. Two styles of driving were undertaken. The first was an economical drive by an advanced driver. The second was a drive typical of some standards I see when meeting new clients for assessments.
