DRIVING LESSONS & CV-19

Updated: May 21, 2020

ALMOST DEFINITELY THERE WILL BE NO COMMENCEMENT OF DRIVING LESSONS UNTIL AT LEAST 1st JUNE 2020. SOME THEORY TEST DATES ARE AVAILABLE EARLIER BUT NOT BEFORE 30th MAY 2020.

PRACTICAL TESTS ARE CURRENTLY DUE TO START ON 22ND JUNE 2020. THE DVSA ARE FOLLOWING GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES.

Theory Tests: Theory Tests are suspended until 30th May 2020.

You can book and schedule a Theory Test following this link.

Now is the time to practice and I would urge anyone who has not to sign up to theory test pro, take this opportunity to gain some extra knowledge.

Practical Driving Tests:

The DVSA took the decision to suspend practical driving tests for up to 3 months. This is due to the extended contact between candidates and examiners in vehicles.

This would mean the first potential date to book a Practical Driving Test is Monday 15th June 2020.

You can ask for an emergency test if you’re a key worker.

For more information visit the DVSA website.

It is not currently possible to book any advanced driving tests as the system has been frozen.

Driving Lessons:

Whilst I have heard of some instructors who are still working this is certainly not the advice we have been given from the Government nor our associations. The message is clear: Stay Alert, Save Lives, Protect the NHS. Unless you cannot work at home or your work is essential. Keep a distance of more than 2 metres from those you are not in regular contact with. These stricter measures are due to be lifted from Friday 8th May 2020. I must consider the risks associated with starting work along with Government guidelines.

Parking Charges Enfield Council: People should look at other Boroughs to see what restrictions have been lifted.

Since Monday 23rd March 2020 Enfield Council have not been enforcing in controlled parking zones around North Middlesex Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital to help NHS staff who need to work during this serious period.

As of 24th March 2020, they have not been enforcing resident permit bays in all day controlled parking zones (CPZ) and bays or single yellow lines in CPZs which are four hours or less in length. This is to help residents, so they can park on yellow lines in these zones.

The council continues to enforce;

Waiting and loading restrictions in all day zones (double and single yellow lines)

Pay and display Loading and business bays Disabled bays School keep clear areas Footways Pedestrian crossings

Bus stops Cycle lanes Obstruction of dropped kerbs
