Driving Licence
Clients must personally ensure that they are the holders of a valid, signed and current driving licence which must be
produced at the first lesson and may be regularly checked by your instructor.
Clients must inform their driving instructor if they receive any endorsements on their licence during the time that they
are receiving tuition.
Clients must inform their driving instructor of any disabilities they have which may affect their ability to drive.
Client Wellbeing
In the interests of comfort and safety, clients are advised to wear suitable footwear and comfortable clothing which does not restrict movement.
Clients would be expected to show a good standard of hygiene to help prevent the development and spread of infections, illnesses and bad odours.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees are as stated in the attached price list and available online. All accounts are payable in advance, in some cases giving sufficient time for funds to clear.
School/Instructor Guarantee
Only a registered Approved Driving Instructor will give instruction.
Official documents are displayed on the windscreen of the car and may be inspected at any time.
Clients may be accompanied on their lesson by a supervising examiner whose job it is to ensure that the tuition given meets the required standards.
Postponement or Cancellation of Lessons
At least two working days’ notice of a postponement or cancellation of a lesson is required. Saturdays/Sundays and public holidays are not counted as working days.
Every effort is taken to avoid cancellations. If your instructor cancels or postpones a lesson at short notice an alternative appointment shall be made with mutual consent.
Driving tests take priority over lessons. Due to waiting lists and changes beyond my control, a short notice test may need to be scheduled as a first concern.
Postponement or Cancellation of a Test
The DVSA require 10 workings days’ notice in order to cancel or postpone a driving test without loss of any fees. 3 clear working days for your theory test. Sundays and Public Bank Holidays do not count as working days.
The instructor cannot be held responsible for any postponement or cancellation of a test by the DVSA – at whatever notice.
If possible the client will be advised in good time of cancelling their driving test.
Where tests are cancelled at short notice tuition fees are still payable and in some cases a separate claim can be made from the DVSA.
The Driving Test
Your instructor will advise the appropriate time to make an application for a driving test and which centre to choose.
This does not amply the required standard has been reached and clients should welcome the advice given by the instructor to avoid unnecessary failure, expense and the delays in finding another test.
Passing the theory test is not a benchmark to taking the practical driving test.
The instructor reserves to right to withhold the use of the school car for the test or a lesson if in the opinion of the instructor the client is:
· Not driving at test standard
· Medically unfit (including eyesight)
· Under the influence of drugs or alcohol
· Is not properly licence to drive
· Constantly fails to keep or is late for appointments
· Falls into arrears over payment
· If for any reason the instructor considers the client to be unsafe to handle the vehicle.
Insurance
School cars are fully insured for tuition and driving tests. The certificate of insurance is available for inspection.
No liability of any kind can be accepted by the instructor for the loss of or damage to any property belonging to or in the possession of the client.
Legal Liability
Clients should be aware that their instructors primary objective is to promote road safety and in doing so will have to issue instructions which clients must be prepared to carry out without due argument.
The instructor will make every effort to train the client to the highest standard but in no way can be held liable for any errors the client may commit whilst driving and unaccompanied by the instructor either before or after a test pass.
Every effort is made to keep the car safe and within the law at all times, but the client must realise they are responsible as the driver in avoiding any legal infringements.
Payments
All payments are due in advance. Your instructor accepts, cash, cheque, bank transfers or payments online/in car.
All tuition fees are available online and provided in advance of your tuition.
Any changes to the current price list would require at least 2 weeks’ notice.
In some cases your instructor may book practical or theory tests and request the money for test fees in advance. There is no admin fee for booking tests, but short notice tests may require an additional service.
In their own interest, clients are advised to be punctual for their appointments. The instructor will wait for a maximum of 10 minutes. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary for the arrival of the instructor due to some unforeseen circumstance. The lesson will commence from the declared start time or the time of the instructor’s arrival if that should be later.
On Going Lessons
Whilst every effort is made to guarantee the same lesson time each week, it is not always possible to keep to the same plan as when lessons start. In some cases I may not be able to honour different times and days if a schedule changes during the course of your training.
